Anyone that drove past The Castle Theatre on Sunday night around 5 p.m. saw the fans lined up for the Chris Webby show. From the moment the doors opened, it was obvious that this was going to be a night to remember. The evening started off with six local openers and really set the tone for the night. Each performer had their own individual style but together they created an atmosphere filled with an overwhelming amount of energy. Most of the local openers had an entourage of supporters that came prepared to have a great time.
There were several devoted fans in the crowd, some even traveling over four hours to see the show. As each opener performed, there was a sense of eagerness as the anticipation for Chris Webby’s performance grew.
All eyes were on DJ Semi as he began the show. He managed to get the already rowdy crowd even more pumped up for what they had been waiting for all night. The noise absolutely exploded once Chris Webby came on stage and basically took over the theatre. He told the crowd that he would be starting off the night with some of his early music and would work his way up to his new songs. Leading into songs by telling hilarious stories of where the song came from allowed the fans to see the rapper’s personal side.
The second half of the show he played several songs from his EP, Homegrown and performed fan favorites such as “Left Lane” and “Only Way to Go”. However, there is no denying that the performance of “Do Like Me” demanded the attention of everyone in the room.
With the purchase of VIP meet and greet tickets, loyal fans were able to get some one on one time and take pictures with the artist himself after the show. One fan was able to show Chris Webby a meaningful tattoo he received that was from a line in one of Webby’s songs “Fragile Lives”, which the rapper later posted a picture of on his Instagram.
Chris Webby delivered an amazing show and exceeded every expectation that a fan could have had. As the crowd left at the end of the night, it was apparent that any individual that was unfamiliar with this artist before that night was definitely leaving as a new fan.
